Sagrada Família: go inside
Light gives the building its argument.
From outside, Sagrada Família can seem almost too full of information: towers, sculpted stories and surfaces competing for your attention. Go inside and the experience changes. Columns rise and branch, light colours the space, and the structure gives your eye a clearer route through the building. Give that first impression a moment before starting the audio guide.
Move through the nave and notice how the atmosphere changes with your position. The façades reward another look afterwards, when their differences become easier to understand. Construction and conservation belong to the building’s continuing life, so do not organise the visit around a promise that every element will be finished or accessible on your date.
Choose your ticket deliberately. Tower access is a separate consideration, with restrictions and a physical route that may not suit everyone; it is not required for the central experience. Online reservation is essential planning here. Arrive with time for security and dress for a place of worship. Many first visits try to combine too many Gaudí interiors in one day. Let this one occupy a proper half-day, with a meal or a walk afterwards rather than another immediate timed entrance.
